IT might seem ridiculous to ask, but the system for claiming benefits and getting access to services is so convoluted, so difficult, that it might well be some Yes Minister joke to prevent older people getting help.

An OLM reader is struggling to get benefits and services for a family in desperate need. They don't have a computer. They are not on the 'radar' of social services or charities and their family doctor seems oblivious to their plight. There is a big crack here and they have just fallen down it.
